We're having "Fun in the Sun" at Mo's!

Hello and welcome once again to to my little corner of the world! It's Thursday . . . and this month is flying by!! One of these days I really AM going to make a Christmas card!! But not today!! For this week's challenge at Mo's DP2 Challenge Blog, my sweet and very clever DT sistah, Elaine, has chosen an exceptionally "non-Christmas" theme . . .

"Fun in the Sun"

And we've certainly had plenty (sunshine, that is) lately here in Richmond, VA, USA!! In fact, we're already seeing mid-90 F degree temperatures! Oh how I want to be at the beach!! Soon . . . but never quite soon enough! hehe! Here's my "Fun in the Sun" card . . .
Oops . . . I forgot to tell you to grab your sunglasses! This is another rather "bright" card!! OK . . . so here's the deal . . . I've had this precious little Mo image for well over a year . . . and this is the first time it's come within "coloring" distance of my markers and pencils! (Hanging head in shame here!!) This sweetheart is "Maggie" and you can find her HERE  in Mo's online store! Oh, oh, oh . . . and I found this fabulous set of digi papers and elements at Nitwit Collections . . . they're by Mary Fran and are called "Sandcastles" . . . they're perfect!! Here's a close-up of sweet little Maggie" . . .
This image was absolutely delightful to color . . . especially that hair!! Here's a bit of a side view . . .

"Bling" in the Sun!

Happy Tuesday!! Are you enjoying your Summer?! I sooooooo can't wait for vacation! I NEED to be on a beach and splashing around in the Caribbean!! Soon . . . but not soon enough!! In the meantime . . . there's another cool challenge happening at Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog!! Our very sweet Miz Dawn has chosen a rather interesting challenge theme . . .

"Bling in the Sun!"

Hmmmm . . . well, I'm not quite sure if she was thinking "bling" or "sun" . . . or BOTH! So, since I can never make up my mind . . . I decided to use both! hehe!!
Surprise!! It's Maddie and Max! Yay!! This is another fabby new Sassy Cheryl image . . . and, I gotta tell ya, I love ALL of the new "Maddie & Max" digi images. This one is called "Shy Little Swimmers." I'm not sure if they're shy . . . or if they're "investigating" something and just being "stealthy"!! I decided to paper piece the pool . . . and add some grass with bling! (What the what?!) Here's a close-up . . .
When I saw this image, I couldn't help but reminisce about my own childhood! We had a very cool pool . . . 8 feet by 6 feet (I think) and 12 inches deep! Now here's the funny thing . . . my mother (a former lifeguard at the Mississippi River and licensed RN) told us we had to wait 30 minutes after eating before we could get in the pool! Why? Well . . . she didn't want us getting a cramp and DROWNING, of course!! ROTFL!! And we never questioned her logic!! Go figure!! I wonder if Maddie and Max had to wait a half hour too!! You can find this adorable image HERE in Sassy Cheryl's online store!! And while you're there, be sure to check out all of the cool new images! Here's kind of a side angle . . .

We're all so "BRIGHT" at Mo's this week!

Happy Thursday! And welcome to my little corner of Blogland! It's time for a new challenge at Mo's DP2 Challenge Blog! And this week, my sweet and oh-so-talented friend and DT sister Franz is our hostess! She's chosen a fabulous theme . . .

"Bright Colors"

Cool, huh? So . . . here's what I came up with . . .
I've seen so many gorgeous projects using Mo Manning's precious little cowgirl image . . . so I decided I'd try my hand at coloring her this week! Oh . . . and I found these fabulous digi DPs at Nitwit Collections . . . they're by Mary Fran and are called "Li'l Tumbleweeds Too" . . . they're perfect, don'tcha think?

This adorable image is called "Howdy" and is available HERE in Mo's online store. And what's even cooler is that this image comes with a couple of perfect sentiment texts . . . I merged one of them above my image! Here's a close-up of li'l "Howdy" . . .
I wanted to create something a little different this week, so I decided to make a variation of a "Joy Fold" card that I'd seen a while ago. My friend Dena created a fun tutorial . . . available HERE at Lili of the Valley's website.
 My Card "Recipe" . . .

Sassy Cheryl's "Maddie" Swings into Summer!

Hey there, m'darlings!! Happy Tuesday!! Has summer arrived where you are? It has definitely arrived here in Richmond, VA, USA! Warm days and cooler evenings . . . and fireflies! (Some people call them "lightening bugs"! Whatever they're called . . . my two toy poodles love to bark at them! hehe!!) So . . . it's time for another fun challenge at Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog where Miz Ann has chosen an absolutely perfect theme . . .

Summer!

It just so happens that this fortnight's challenge theme at Deep Ocean Challenge Blog is also SUMMER! So, I've decided to do a bit of  Design Team "double duty" by using this little card for both challenges!!  What'cha think?
It's Maddie! I just love her! Have you noticed that she is always wearing a funky hat?! I think it's her "signature" look!! This adorable little image is called "Swing Me a Story - Maddie." She is available in Sassy Cheryl's online store HERE. And, if you prefer "boys," this image is also available in a "Max" version HERE. They'd be cute merged together too . . . swinging side-by-side!! Here's a close-up . . .
The minute I saw this cute Sassy Cheryl image, I knew exactly what kind of card I'd be making with her!! A "Tent" card!! You can find an easy tutorial HERE. They are super fun to make . . . and I think a "Tent" style card really showcases this particular Maddie!

"School's Out" at Mo's this week!

Hey there, m'darlins!! Wow . . . I had so much fun with last week's "Children's Challenge" at Mo's!! A total of 25 children (between the ages of 3 and 12 years) entered cards into the challenge!! Such amazing talent . . . even from the youngest of them!! If you haven't had a chance to see these amazing creations, pop on over to Mo's HERE and check 'em out!

Okey dokey . . .  it's time for a new challenge at Mo's DP2 Challenge Blog! And this week, the lovely and talented Elaine is our hostess! She's chosen the perfect theme for this time of the year (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) . . .

"School's Out"

And here's my card . . .
OK . . . so here's the deal . . . all of my children are grown and have children of their own, so I get to celebrate "no school" all year round!! hehe! But I got to thinking about summer vacations when I was a little whipper snapper . . . and remembered walking to the lake to go swimming! We would leave first thing in the morning and not come home until dinnertime!! Sunscreen? What sunscreen?? We didn't have that in the 1950's & '60's . . . which might explain the outcropping of "age spots" I'm noticing on my hands and face! Oops!

Anyway . . . as you can see, I decided to go with a sort of vacation/swimming/beach theme!! Here's a close-up . . .
This adorable image is called "Pool Party" and is one of Mo's more "vintage" images! I just love, love, LOVE this little cutie! How many of you remember swim caps? I have to admit, I never looked this cute in mine! LOL!! You can find "Pool Party" HERE in Mo's online store. I realized that it's been a few weeks since I'd made an easel card . . . so . . . surprise!! I made a "twisted" easel card for this week's challenge!

Please stop on over at Mo's DP2 Challenge Blog to check out the gorgeous "School's Out" projects created by Elaine and the rest of my talented DT sisters! Happy Tuesday, my sweet (er, or should I say "Sassy") friends! Are you having the most fabulous June so far? For the Guys/Boys!

Well, well, well . . . I am probably the worst when it comes to making "boy" cards! I am really all about girly and embellished with flowers and jewels! But, what the heck . . . boys need a chance to be showcased too, I guess! hehe! So, here ya go . . .
It's Max!! I just love him (even though he is kind of a boy! hehe!) This handsome little skateboarder is called "Grip it & Rip it Max." He's available in Sassy Cheryl's online store HERE. And, if you prefer "girls," this image is also available in a "Maddie" version HERE. Although Maddie is certainly more of a "tomboy" in this image, she's awfully cute too!! Here's a close-up of little Max . . .
I made this card for our only grandson, Brody, who will be 9 years old in August. He lives in Arizona (far too many miles away from Virginia . . . and I miss my little buddy bunches and bunches!! So I decided to make this card for him . . . undoubtedly a gift card will find it's way inside the envelope! hehe! Here's a pic of our handsome little Brody (he is definitely my son's "mini me"!) . . .
Now I know I'm biased, but I sure do think he's a handsome little guy!! Gotta love those sunglasses!! OK . . . back to my card . . . here's a bit of a side view . . .
