Anything BUT a Card at Sassy Cheryl's & Candle Tutorial

Welcome, my darlings!! It's time for another fabulous challenge over at Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog!! And this week, my clever friend and DT sister, Cathy, has decided she'd like to see . . .

"Anything BUT a Card!"

Well . . . since I really pushed the envelope last week with my "Vintage - Creams & White" DT card (would you believe it looked whiter and creamier in real life?! hehe!) Ahem . . . as I was saying, I decided to really stick to Miz Cathy's theme this week and make a Christmas Tree ornament and candle!! I also thought it might be fun to include a little tutorial on how I made the candle. Warning: Lots of photos!!

Okey dokey . . . here we go . . . .

Step 1: Obtain a white wax candle . . . either one with a wick (although you won't be lighting this candle) or a battery-operated candle (which is what I used here!) . . .

Step 2: Select your digi image . . . for today's project, I chose "Princess on Ice" (Lucy Lou) which you can find HERE in the "Oldies But Goodies" section of Sassy Cheryl's Online Store . . .

Step 3: Tape a piece of white tissue paper to a piece of white paper or cardstock & print image on your computer printer as you normally would . . .

Step 4: Leave image/tissue paper secured to white paper . . .

Step 5: Proceed to color with pencils and/or alcohol based (Copic) markers . . .
NOTE: Be sure to color image darker than you normally would, as it will appear much lighter on the tissue paper against your white candle.

Step 6: After coloring is completed, carefully remove tissue paper from the cardstock/white paper . . .

Step 7: Trim image with scissors . . .

Step 8: Place a piece of wax paper directly over the image and wrap around the candle . . .

NOTE: Gather the wax paper in your non-dominant hand . . . being careful to smooth out the wrinkles before moving on to Step 9.

Step 9: Using a heat gun or hair dryer (on warm/hot setting) and a "back and forth" waving motion, blow warm/hot air about 2-3 inches in front of image/candle. When you see the wax paper/image start to become translucent, move to another spot until you've applied heat to the entire image. Avoid holding the hot hair in one spot too long . . . doing so will melt little craters into the candle . . . and you don't want that!

Step 10: Carefully remove wax paper. Voila . . . your image has been magically adhered to (i.e., "melted into") the candle!!

Step 11: Now you can commence decorating your candle . . . (I used this really pretty ribbon . . . with SPARKLES! aarrgghh!)

Step 12: I added some blue diamonds (er, I mean, blue rhinestones . . . hehe!) and a little Liquid Applique (for her fur muff).

I also decided to make a matching Christmas Tree ornament using the same Sassy Cheryl "Princess on Ice" image. This was super-de-duper easy peasy!! I found the little ornament at my local craft store (Michael's) and just colored up (with Copics) a teensy tiny version of my Sassy Cheryl image and inserted it!! Cute, huh?

Here's a peek at the set . . .

This is how it looks with the candle turned on . . .

And one last pic for good measure!! hehe!
